The PNC Championship features 20 major champions and their relatives competing for the total purse of $1,085,000 in a two-day 36-hole scramble for the Willie Park Trophy. The 2019 tournament was won by two-time major champion Bernhard Langer and his son Jason.
To qualify for the PNC Championship players must have won a major championship or The Players Championship, their partner must not hold a PGA Tour card. Justin Thomas and his father Mike Thomas will be playing alongside Tiger Woods and his 11-year-old son Charlie in this year’s event.
Bubba Watson playing with his Father-In-Law Wayne Ball, Jim Furyk, and son Tanner, as well as Matt Kuchar and his son Cameron will be making their tournament debut also.
The prize for the PNC Championship winning team is the “Willie Park Trophy”, named in honor of the first winner of the British Open, the world’s oldest golf championship.
Park won the British Open four times, (1860, 1863, 1866, and 1875), and his son, Willie Jr. won twice, (1887, & 1889.
