At just 40 years old, Steven Michael Outlaw has already carved out a reputation as one of golf’s most dynamic leaders — a professional whose passion for excellence and inclusion continues to shape the industry. Now serving as General Manager of Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club in Arizona, Outlaw’s journey from a small-town student to a global golf executive is both inspiring and instructive.
Born with an early fascination for leadership and sport, Outlaw attended Georgetown College, where he studied Political Science before entering the PGA PGM Post Graduate Diversity Program. “Golf has always been more than a game to me — it’s a platform for growth, connection, and opportunity,” Outlaw shared. After progressing rapidly through the program, he achieved full PGA membership in 2012, marking the start of a career that would take him around the world.
Since joining Troon in 2008, Outlaw has held nearly every leadership position imaginable — from outside services to Head Professional, Director of Golf, and Director of Club Operations. His international experience includes serving as Director of Club Operations at The Els Club Teluk Datai in Langkawi, Malaysia, and Associate Golf Professional at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates. Most recently, he served over three years as Director of Sales and Marketing at Troon Headquarters, where he helped drive growth, strengthen partnerships, and support clubs across Troon’s global network.
Now, as General Manager at Wickenburg Ranch Golf & Social Club, Outlaw leads one of Troon’s premier private destinations. He oversees all operations, membership engagement, and team development — with a focus on service, community, and excellence. “Wickenburg Ranch holds a special place in my heart,” he said. “It’s where I’ve seen the power of teamwork and hospitality come together to create unforgettable experiences. Coming back here feels like coming home.”
