The TGR Foundation has partnered with Augusta National Golf Club on a new initiative aimed at expanding educational opportunities and community impact in Augusta, Georgia. This collaboration will bring the TGR Learning Lab model—first established in Anaheim, California—to the Southeast, with a focus on reaching underserved youth through engaging, hands-on education.
Inspired by Tiger Woods’ original vision from 2001, the TGR Learning Labs have become a cornerstone of the foundation’s efforts to support student success. Since the Anaheim location opened in 2006, the program has served over 200,000 students with STEAM-focused education and career readiness training (TGR Foundation, 2024).
“This new learning lab is vital because it will open doors for students in underserved communities of Augusta,” says African American Golfer’s Digest Publisher Debert Cook. “It will help youth to explore real-world learning through engaging STEAM programs in a nurturing environment where they can gain critical skills, build confidence, and receive guidance from mentors.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, STEAM occupations are projected to grow 10.8% between 2022 and 2032—much faster than the average for all occupations (BLS, 2023). Additionally, research shows that students with access to mentorship are 55% more likely to enroll in college (MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, 2022).

The TGR Learning Lab Augusta will offer a safe and inspiring environment where students can learn after school and during the summer. By providing mentorship and skill-building resources, the lab aims to empower young people to pursue their dreams and prepare for success in high-demand careers. This partnership marks a significant step toward educational equity and long-term community development.
