This was to be the end of the Pioneer Tournament which had a 20-year run (19 golfing years). The turnout was graciously successful with 100 golfers participating, a lot of the veteran golfers returned plus a sizable group of new golfers in attendance as well.
There were over 25 women golfers in contention. Overall, the weather favored us.
The Hampton Inn was headquarters for the Pioneer Golfers and graciously hosted us in their usual hospitable and accommodating way, all our bookings were filled.
Rounding out the Pioneer Finale, we were hosted for dinner at the Pro Football Hall of Fame arranged by Renee Powell and I can say it was a hit with the attending golfers and spouses. I highly recommend a visit if you’re ever in Canton, Ohio.
Launching the tournament at Friday’s registration and dinner, I offered the tournament to anyone interested in its continuation and before the conclusion, a person stepped up to continue it as “The Pioneer Golf Tournament 2.0” So look forward to next year’s tournament in June.
I believe this person has the ability to make it even greater. Hopefully, the future generations of our golfers will see and visit this awesome golf course, value it as we have and “Play it Forward”.
Our intent was to expose and support Clearview Golf Course for/to as many golfers who were unaware of the historical significance and beauty it represents.
Renee and Larry Powell have shouldered a legacy they carry on to this day and both were presented with a Plaque and Trophy thanking them for the excellent service and hospitality they provided over the 19 years of hosting us.
I wish to thank all the Pioneer Family that has supported Jesse Brooks and myself over the years and thank the newcomers as well, hope we all gather again next year.
