July 24, 2019 —With round one in the history books, the second round of the 2019 Bahamas Professional Golf Tour (BPGT) Signature Golf Classics is heading to Paradise Island at the Ocean Club Golf Course on Sunday, July 28, 2019. Some of the best Bahamian professional and amateur golfers will be showcasing their skills. BPGT is proud to have Hillshire Farms Brand as the title sponsor for this tournament.

In our season opener, all tournament participants and guests were treated to scrumptious Hillshire sausages and hotdogs. Supporting sponsors are Breezes Resorts, Ocean Club Golf Course, SunTee, R & E Imports and Sales, as they saw it fit to sponsor an event like this that will further develop the level of local golf competition here in The Bahamas.

In the first round at Baha Mar’s Royal Blue Golf Course in May, it was a very competitive round that saw last year’s professional winner, Riccardo Davis emerged as the winner. Davis shot even-par 72. He is in the lead with 260 points. Davis who is also the tournament organizer said; “I felt as though it could have been a lot better because I had it a lot lower and I messed up coming in a little bit. It was good enough to win and I am happy with the results.”

Finishing right behind Davis was Grand Bahamian Greg Maycock who finished one stroke behind Davis with 73 strokes to finish one-over-par. His point total is 195 points. Lemon Gorospe finished third with three-over-par 75 to finished with 170 points. Davis also leads the purse with $2000. Maycock has $1000 and Gorospe has $500.

Over on the amateur side, it was also very competitive as a countback was needed to determine a winner. Richard Gibson Jr. and Rashad Ferguson finished two-over-par 74. Gibson Jr. came out as the winner with the countback and Ferguson was awarded second place. Gibson Jr. and Ferguson both have 227.50 points heading into the second round. Finishing third with three-over-par 75, was Nadario Ferguson. He has 170 points.

This round promises to be another competitive one as a target is now on Davis and Gibson Jr.’s back. To do that, golfers will need to bring their A+ game as they look to drive and putt their way to win.
