The return of Tiger Woods

by AAGD Staff

After his claiming his fifth Masters title back in 2019, the sport’s most celebrated star name Tiger Woods is scheduled to return in 2021/22 and once again stake his claim as the greatest golfer to ever play the game as he looks to also bring in a potential next generational talent that many media outlets have already sighted a keen interest towards the upstart.

When fans often sprout names on who is the greatest athlete from each major sport, Tiger Woods’ name is the most common candidate to occupy the position of the greatest golfer of all-time.

After decades of success and multiple comeback tours, Woods is set to return in 2021 and 2022 alongside his second-born child Charlie Woods who is raring to make a big impression at the PNC Championship.

This will mark Tiger’s first return to the golfing scene since he suffered a number of horrific leg injuries as a result of a car crash earlier this year, with some even speculating that this incident would ultimately force the veteran to announce his retirement from the sport.

Woods’ return, as expected, is to be an eagerly anticipated moment which has been made all the more heart-warming following the announcement that his 12-year-old son will also be competing at the event.

Tiger has also sighted that he may no longer look to uptake any further full-time roles in the sport and will “        pick and choose a few events a year and … play around that”.

The announcement has sent the golfing world into ecstasy with many fans also looking to witness the future talents from Woods’ son Charlie that could be further present for years to come, as the next generation of golfing talents see to be materializing before our eyes.

  • Is a Tiger Woods return expected for any future major events?

As stated, Woods’ return on a full-time basis seems unlikely given the catastrophic injuries that Tiger suffered following the car crash back in April 2021, with many reports sighting severe damages to Woods’ tibia and fibula which could also have led to amputation of the golf starlets right leg.

Given how recent this incident was and the challenging recovery path that Woods has endured, golfing fans may never witness Tiger Woods competing at a full-time basis for the foreseeable future.

Tiger is expected to be present at any future mainstream golfing events that could include the US Open, Masters tournament and the PGA Championship among others, yet this will likely remain unclear as to which he will be planning on attending likely until the new year.

For events including the ones listed above, Woods would likely be seen as an outsider when betting at a major sportsbook. As we head into the nationally televised events, fans will be waiting on future announcements concerning Woods and his participation.

  • Can Tiger still be a major contender?

There is little to no doubt that Woods still remains as one of the best golfers on the planet today meaning that he could certainly still reign as a suitable contender for any upcoming major tournaments.

Given that Woods will now be operating on a part-time basis for the foreseeable future, this will give the veteran a chance to dedicate more time periods towards practice and workouts ahead of any upcoming major championship tournaments, meaning he could further undergo a greater recuperation during his new part-time schedule.

Should Woods look to continue to strive towards further major championship aspirations and future successes at golf’s most coveted tournaments, he will still be a name that most fans may look to back ahead of the latter stages of his historic career.

Tiger Woods’ legacy as arguably the greatest golf star of all-time is well and truly cemented long into the history books, yet there is certainly more room for any future championship titles to be added to Woods’ impeccable trophy cabinet.

While it may seem strange to witness Woods now occupying on a personal basis, it may be a decision that may prove to be vital towards his success at major tournaments and for his long-term health concerns that may have been raised following the initial announcement of his return at the PNC Championship.

The PNC Championship is sure to be an unmissable event for all sporting fanatics given that it features the return of Woods and the further development of his son Charlie as a golfing talent for the proposed future.

While the mainstream attention will be directed towards Tiger’s return to the sport, fans will be clamoring to witness the performances by both the five-time Masters winner and his talented 12-year-old son.

Tiger’s return has been long awaited and overdue as golfing fans look forward to witnessing the greatest name the sport has ever produced heading back onto the green once again with his hall of fame legacy now firmly cemented.
