While many were preparing their grocery list for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner, Tiger Woods took to Twitter on Saturday to announce he has enlisted Chris Como as a swing “consultant.” Noticeable was the fact that the Tiger did not refer to Como as his swing coach, but rather a “consultant”.
Como, a 36-year old trainer, based near Dallas, was named in 2013 by Golf Digest as one of “the best young teachers.” Como was introduced to Woods by his trusted advisor and fellow Stanford teammate Notah Begay. Como studies biomechanics and is known as a rising star among swing coaches. He is well known in the industry and also works with Aaron Baddeley and a few other PGA Tour golfers.
Seemingly, Tiger will be working with Como and stripping down to the bare basics to get some highly sophisticated computer analysis of his swing.
Hopefully, Como will help Woods to gain some fresh swing ideas that will help him to reemerge from his 2014 battle with back injuries. Woos parted ways with Sean Foley, his swing coach of several years, in September, so it’s time to get back on track with his swing. Como is hoping to be the answer to Woods’ woes.
Worldwide, many golfers and fans of the game had concluded that Woods was done, had seen his best days, had retired from golf. Now, with this latest tweet, he has come out publicly (to the surprise of the naysayers) to prove that we have not heard the last from him yet.
What we don’t know is when Woods will return to competition. Anxious fans are waiting.
