(July 18, 2019) — Things are not going so well for Tiger Woods, as the 43-year old player struggles through at 7-over-78 on his Thursday opening round at the British Open. Woods did manage to accomplish making par on his first four holes of the 7,344 yard, par 71, Dunluce Course of the Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland. The popular player is in a quest for his 16th major championship, and his participation has fans around the world rooting for him, but the victory may be a failing attempt after such a rough start today.
By the middle of his round, Woods’ game was in shambles, as he shot six-over through holes number 5-11, finishing at a dreadful 7-over 78.
A rip-roaring Tiger Roar was not heard on the course until the 15th hole, where Woods, a three-time Open champion, made his lone birdie of the day. All in all, Woods’ opening-round consisted of one birdie, 10 pars, six bogeys, and one double-bogey. Without a doubt, it was his poorly managed shots from the fairway and missed putts that caused Woods to walk off of the course T-144 out of 156 players who are competing in the tournament.
Since his glorious comeback win at the 2019 Masters earlier this year at Augusta National, Woods is currently 10-over par in majors.
Woods will return to the course to tee up again on Friday at 5:09 a.m. ET for the second round. He is again alongside Matt Wallace and Patrick Reed,
