Get ready for the roar!!!

It’s happening. The long-awaited return of golf’s greatest mega-superstar Tiger Woods announced on Thursday—what fans have been waiting for and what seems like an eternity to hear—he’ll be playing again, soon. Woods will make his return to the PGA Tour at next week’s Memorial Tournament (Jul 16–19) at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio.

“I’ve missed going out and competing with the guys,” Woods said, “and can’t wait to get back out there.”

For a worldwide fanbase, the news is welcoming. The beloved golfer has been absent from the Tour since mid-February, during a poor showing where he finished in last place among those who made the cut at the Genesis Invitational.

Afterward, Woods complained of back tightness that he felt in his body. Then, the golf season was put on pause when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

In mid-June, when golf courses started to reopen Woods did not return to play in tournaments, rather deciding to engage in teeing up at holes with Tom Brady and Phil Mickelson at The Match II during the layoff.

With excited fans waiting to catch Woods at the Memorial, disappointment followed as tournament officials announced this week a change in plans due to increased infection rates of COVID cases around the country.

Thank heavens for TV, laptops, and mobile. Because golf fans will at least get to watch Woods strike balls via their large-and-small screens. It’s better than nothing, I guess.
