Tokyo police arrested 52-year-old Miho Yoshitake on Tuesday, accusing her of killing her husband, Makoto Yoshitake, with a golf club. The incident took place at their home in Nerima Ward on Monday evening, according to the Tokyo Times.
Miho Yoshitake reportedly told police, “I hit him back because he struck me first with the golf club. I didn’t mean to kill him.” She is accused of striking her 53-year-old husband, a company employee, in the head, leading to his death.
The incident came to light around 9:15 p.m. on Monday when Makoto’s parents found him bleeding from the head in the bathroom after being contacted by Miho. Emergency services were called, and he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Miho claimed she only used the golf club after seizing it from her husband. She also had minor head injuries that suggested she had been struck.
Their son, who is in his 20s, informed police that the couple had been arguing since Monday morning. Authorities are investigating the incident further, noting that the couple appears to have had a history of domestic violence.
