United Black Golfers Association (UBGA), a 501 (C)3 organization that provides opportunities for golfers and individuals (men and women) who are interested in the game of golf, announced the recipients of its 2020 Service Award Scholarship via Zoom last week.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the organization had to make changes to our scholarship awards program,” said President Vernell Bennet. On July 21, the Laurelton Queens-based association hosted a Zoom awards presentation with the recipients and their parents. The individual award checks in the amount of $800.00 each and beautifully personalized certificates have been mailed to each of the six recipients.
“Congratulations to all of the awardees, because they worked hard this year under these pandemic conditions,” said Bennett who has headed the UBGA since its founding in 2014.
The 2020 UBGA Service Award Scholarship recipients are all NYC graduating seniors who must have earned at minimum a 75% GPA average at graduation, have performed community service and be pursuing a post-secondary education in the fall of 2020.

Our name, logo and acronym are registered with the United States of America Patent and Trademark Office. The purpose of the association is to provide opportunities for golfers and individuals (men and women) who are interested in the game of golf, to meet and engage in activities that promote unity, and for personal growth and enrichment through the sport of golf. From 2016-2020 UBGA have distributed 36 scholarships to High School Seniors, with a total disbursement of $21,800.00 to date.
