He says, “Connected with some really great companies and people.”
Artist Valentino Dixon says he had a wonderful time at the 2nd Annual African American Golf Expo & Forum, August 27-31 in Charlotte, NC. Dixon, a New York native currently living in Augusta, GA, spent 27 years behind bars in maximum security prison, wrongfully convicted in 1991, for a murder that he maintained he did not commit. While there, he started drawing daily to pass time, and his resulting creations were beyond marvelous.
Released in September 2018, thanks in part to his illustrations of golf courses, Valentino started a prison reform foundation program and his artistic works have received international acclaim, even being purchased by former First Lady Michelle Obama as a birthday gift for her husband Obama. Valentino’s original drawings sell for $2,500-$10,000 and up. Valentino has extended his product artwork line to include apparel and commissioned pieces. He plans to add a women’s clothing line by the end of the year.
On his Instagram, Valentino shows a video of his exhibit booth and says: “At my first Golf Expo exhibiting some of my Golf Apparel. Connected with some really great companies and people. The response was beyond awesome.”
