The 60th Annual Riviera Open sponsored by Halifax Health was held on Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6 at Rivera Country Club, Ormond Beach, Fla. The new champion is Willie Mack III who posted a two day total of 129 on rounds of 65-64(-13). Finishing second and tied at 131 were Kevin Aylwin, Austin Truslow, and Dillon Board.
Mack, who is originally from Flint, Mich. and now lives in Florida is an Advocates Tour player, and just this past summer he received a multi-year sponsorship deal with Farmers Insurance.
When asked about challenges during the event, Mack told this publication,”…really didn’t have any; felt super calm the whole tournament. Putting and my driving was def the best part of my game for the tournament for sure.”
A PICTURE PERFECT DAY
With a full field of 132 players, the day was absolutely perfect for a competition of stand-out golfers whose goal (next to winning) was to finish before darkness fell on the tournament, which is the longest-running Mini-Tour in the country.
A team of fantastic volunteers kept things rolling smoothly as they worked alongside tournament organizers. Sally Akins managed the event scoreboard with Pat Meyers and MJ Smith assisting in greeting players at the scoring table to check and confirm their scores for another successful event.
