WISHMILL was born out of the inspiration drawn from the life of Sandra L. Powell–Wilson, a proud mother from Mobile, Alabama, who, along with her husband, sought to instill in their son, Drew, the importance of joy, power, and love within the Black family. The creation of the eCard Line is a testament to the Wilson family’s commitment to spreading these values and celebrating the unique bonds that tie families together.
Sandra L. Powell–Wilson shares the origin story of WISHMILL, saying, “As new parents, my husband and I wanted to express our gratitude for our son, who brought immeasurable joy into our lives. We decided to infuse a bit of family fun into our appreciation by having a song competition. The rules were simple: Drew would be the judge and any movement he made—whether a kick, stretch, smile, or drool—would declare either Mom or Dad the winner.”
The friendly competition unfolded as each parent had a mere 10 minutes to compose a song. Sandra vividly recalls the memorable moment, stating, “My husband rushed to the living room to get started, while I stayed in the bedroom with Drew. When the time was up, the competition was on!”
