The Women In Golf Foundation will host the National Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship this year, April 12-14, at Callaway Gardens and Resort in Pine Mountain, GA. The theme: Adapting to Change – The Power of the Pivot!
The annual Women’s Collegiate Golf Classic is the organization’s major fundraising event and the organization is celebrating 26 years.
“We have implemented some modifications due to COVID19, to ensure the safety of the participants, staff, and volunteers,” said a statement from President and Founder LaJean Gould. “We will not have the Business/Collegiate Scramble this year. We made the decision to have the competition this year to support the school’s NCAA requirements.”
The classic/championship is a 3-day invitational event where selected women’s college teams are invited to participate and play for the Women’s Collegiate Championship. The trophy–Renee Powell Cup, honoring Renee Powell, a pioneer African American Female professional golfer– is presented to the winning team to display for the year that they reign as champions.
The event presents opportunities for professional development and for the college women to play a round of golf with Business professionals. This year, live scoring will be provided by GolfStat.
Gould confirmed that the Foundation will conduct its Professional Development Session, however, it will be held virtually. “All of us are learning to adapt to our new normal. We want to help these young ladies learn how quickly. Given the COVID19 restrictions and modifications, We, more than ever, need your support,” said Gould.
