LaJean Gould, the Founder of Women In Golf Foundationn Inc., played an active role in the 2024 LPGA Chevron Championship’s Career Day, tailored for HBCUs TX Southern and Prairie View. She engaged with local youth, highlighting various opportunities within the golf industry. The event was held in Houston, TX on April 19th at the LPGA Chevron Championship, the first Major of the year, during the Chevron Championship in Woodslands, Texas, April 17-20.
“I was honored to be invited to participate in the LPGA Chevron Championship Career Day and to be interviewed by legends Nancy Lopez and Peter Jacobsen,” said LaJean on her Women In Golf Foundation Facebook social media page The day was focused on HBCU collegiate athletes from Texas Southern University and Prairie View A & M University. The goal was to foster connections and provide awareness of opportunities, and inspire confidence among the participants.
Among a distinguished panel, Gould was interviewed by renowned golf figures Nancy Lopez and Peter Jacobsen, where she imparted valuable advice to the next generation at HBCU Career Day. This event was made possible by Sodexo. An exciting feature of the day was the Chevron STEM Zone, a dynamic mobile space where students could explore the connections between Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math and their daily lives. Designed to be interactive, the Chevron STEM Zone aimed to inspire students towards pursuing careers in STEM fields.
