Women of Color Golf Recognized at White House

by Debert Cook

On September 30th, WOGC was honored as Champions of Change for advancing equity for marginalized girls, including girls of color, through extracurricular and after-school enrichment programs. 10 other organizations were also honored that day.

The Women of Color Golf (WOCG) and Girls On the Green Tee (GOTGT) were selected by The White House as A Champion of Change for Extracurricular Enrichment for Marginalized Girls.  As part of the Champions of Change program, the White House recognizes everyday Americans who are making positive changes in their communities.

The mission of WOCG s to encourage and promote minorities and women of color in all generations (youth, millennial, college prep and adults), to learn the benefits of golf and participate in recreational golf activities, provide organized golf clinics, educational webinars, social activities & networking opportunities by utilizing technology and social media for engagement.

The Champions of Change program was created as an opportunity for the White House to feature individuals doing extraordinary things to empower and inspire members of their communities.  “It’s not really about golf, it’s about changing your life experiences,” Perry said to Bay News 9.  For more information on how you can help make a difference with WOCG contact Clemmie Perry, Founder, Women of Color Golf.
