35-year-old Wyatt Worthington II knows that his focus, skills, and determination to win are what will help him succeed in reaching his goals as a professional golfer. Wyatt also knows that he is most likely to be one of only a few, if any, Black golf pros playing in the field of high-profile championships.
Thus was the case for the Reynoldsburg, Ohio resident who competed in his second PGA Championship at Southern Hills on May 17, 2022. Although Wyatt did not make the cut (+14) the lone Black golfer stood tall, in the back row, for the official Championship group photo. “His mental game is the strongest part of his overall game, with the goal of winning,” said his coach Gerry Hammond.
Former World Number One (2017) Justin Thomas took home the trophy (14). View full leaderboard.
