New Golf Show Focuses on Increasing Minority Golf Business and Participation
NEW YORK, NY (January 23, 2020) — Jim Beatty, President of Jim Beatty Golf Ventures and Executive Editor of the African American Golfers Digest, the nation’s leading African American golf publication, announced on Wednesday at the 67th PGA Merchandise Show & Convention in Orlando, Fla., plans to convene the First Annual African American Golf Expo and Forum to be held Sunday, February 21 -Tuesday, 23, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. Full-day sessions will be held at the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center with evening functions and other attendee activities being planned.
The 3-day comprehensive event will offer merchandising and sales opportunities for companies that seek to tap into the $1.2 Trillion African American consumer market, which includes over $1 Billion spent on sporting goods and apparel.
“This historic effort will provide golf merchandisers with a unique opportunity to increase their sales, branding, and exposure in this demographic segment,” says Beatty who is Founder of NCS International, an Omaha, Nebraska-based company that providers of an array of economic development services. He also serves on the We Are Golf Task Force and is Chairman of the We Are Golf Recreational and Competitive Play Subcommittee.
Beatty also stated this will be the first time that golf industry businesses will be convened specifically to market to African Americans. “The Forum will also address Careers in Golf, Golf at HBCU’s, Supplier Diversity, Fundraising, and introduce new players to the game, to name a few of the workshop topics and forum sessions.
