January 29, 2020 —Entering the tee box this spring will be the inaugural HBCU Swing Into Their Dreams Golf Tournament. Chartered in 2019 with a committed to excellence in all aspects, the 2020 charity fundraiser tournament will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at Atlanta National Golf Club in Alpharetta, Ga. and aims to assist HBCU college students with the rising costs of education.

The mission of the SITD golf tournament is encased in the acronym E.P.I.C., standing for Empowerment and Philanthropy In the Community.  It was the rising costs of college and the student loan debt crisis which were the two major reasons this sporting event was created.  In fact, the inception of the SITD charity tournament is a direct result of personal financial shortcomings experienced while attending college by both of its Co-founders, Pamela Parker and Lynn Demmons.

“This event was established to ensure that low socio-economic status students would not have to suffer a similar fate,” says Ms. Parker, whose company Lifestyles of Luxury provides luxury real estate services in the Atlanta, Ga., and its surrounding areas.  “We are hoping to make college affordable while supporting African American students by raising funds to provide scholarships for deserving students of Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU).  The need for financial assistance is tremendous for those who aspire to play golf while they are also seeking degrees and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics,” says Parker who leads her firm as CEO.  The U.S. Army veteran and media specialist knows quite well the crucial role STEM subjects play in preparing students to be globally competitive.

“Participants for all skill levels are invited to attend and online registration is open for those who desire to help us achieve the dreams of deserving students of Historically Black College and Universities,” says Co-founder Lynn Demmons, a Financial Rebound Strategist and author.  The sought-after educator, keynote speaker, consultant, and executive coach is a Managing Member of Demmons Enterprise, a premiere Snellville, Georgia-based consulting company.  “This outing is guaranteed to be an experience that offers great networking, competitive golf, and much more, and it is truly one of a kind.  Whether you play golf or not, you can support this great cause by donating or sponsoring the event,” says Demmons.

According to Ms. Parker, “Statistically, HBCUs outperform non-HBCU institutions in retaining and graduating first-generation, low-income African American students.  Diversity within college graduates is vital because more voices from all corners of the United States make us a better, informed, and a more positive, successful society.  Collectively, we can make an impact through sponsorship and picking up your golf clubs to Swing Into Their Dreams of Success!”

The Swing Into their Dreams HBCU Charity Golf Tournament is an initiative of the Swing Into Their Dreams Foundation and everyone can be involved.  Sponsorship opportunities are available in several categories along with links provided for making donations.  Interested persons and companies may view the sponsorship proposal at https://www.flipsnack.com/swingintotheirdreams/5wing-into-their-dreams-sponsorproposalbook-1011-19.html
