Melvin Thompson
(November 1, 2011)–Thanks to a very good friend named Wayne Moore, Thompson got introduced to the game of golf and has continued to be actively involved. Today the 41-year-old is a 14 handicapper who loves to play.
“I mostly play rounds with my mentor, William Fleming,” says the Thompson, who bypassed college for an excellent opportunity to work with a fortune 500 Company. He is very satisfied with his career in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry where he continues to succeed.
As a Business Underwriting Specialist Thompson holds New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania Property & Casualty Licenses along with New York Life and Health Licenses, and the distinguished designation as a Long Term Care Professional (LTCP). This November, he will celebrate twenty two years of notable service with that fortune 500 company.
With such a robust daily professional life, Thompson looks forward to winding down on his holiday getaways.
“I enjoy all of the challenges of the game, as well as the endless networking opportunities and especially the good resorts and spas associated with vacation golf,” says the Moorestown, New Jersey resident.
Although Thompson keeps a busy schedule, the bachelor manages to get in an alarming 12 rounds of golf per month.
He admits to not being a member of any specific golf club—however, he does take instruction with PGA Professional Tom McCarthy at Golf Galaxy in Mt. Laurel, NJ at least twice per month to keep his game on track. A confident Thompson also plans on playing in the 2012 World Amateur Handicap Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
”This year my short game along with my putting has been the biggest improvements. However, my driver is my biggest challenge; I need to get at least 260-yards plus, on a more consistent basis.” he adds.
Thompson is deeply passionate about his golfing skills and he also enjoys helping minority women with there golf game.
In fact, most recently his efforts benefited a client of his, aiding her on golf fundamentals, prior to teeing it up in Shaq’s (Shaquille O’Neil) annual celebrity golf outing held in Orlando, Florida this past September!
