William “Bill” Jones had a Hole-in One Wednesday August 11, 2021, at Oak Valley Golf Course, Advance, NC. This was Bill’s 7th Hole-in-One, but his first in the Carolinas. He was on #6, 130 yards, Titleist 9 iron, TaylorMade ball and his playing partners were Otis Worthy, Dock Mangrum, Sr. and Mitchell Smith-Bey.
Bill, originally from Newark, New Jersey, was working as a JCPenney sales manager in 2011 when he decided it was time for a change. At the time his children had grew up and headed off to college and to start their own lives. So, he considered all of his options and chose to make Charlotte, North Carolina his new home surrounded by family.
Playing at a 12 handicap, the 54-year-old tees off at many of the area’s golf courses and has worked as a ranger at the Charles T. Meyers golf course.
Nestled amongst beautifully forested terrain and rolling hills, Oak Valley offers some of the most scenic views in all the Triad. Always in immaculate condition, The 18-hole, par 72, semi-private course was built in 1995 and designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay.
