Willie Mack III had a successful start to the LECOM Suncoast Classic, a Korn Ferry Tour event that is taking place from April 20-23, 2023 at the Lakewood National Golf Club in Florida. The tournament will feature 156 Korn Ferry Tour golfers vying for a $1,000,000 prize and 30 PGA TOUR cards. Mack, who has an inspiring career story, was a member of the Bethune-Cookman golf team in 2016 and even slept in his car to pursue his dream of professional golf. After earning his Korn Ferry Tour card in Savannah, Georgia, the Flint, Michigan native won 11 times in college and became the first African American to win the Michigan Amateur Championship in 2011.
Mack reported to friends and fans that he had a “good day” at the tournament, with a total score of -8 after shooting -6 on the first day. The 34-year-old golfer still has two more days of competition to go. Follow him on Facebook at Willie Mack III
