From Tee to Triumph in DFW

by Gladys Lee
Participant Ashley Jalloh on the course.

What an exciting time to celebrate the incredible women of the DFW/Metropolitan area who are boldly stepping into the wonderful world of golf! These women are to be commended for building a strong network of women golfers by taking the necessary steps to enter the “Wonderful World of Golf” with the idea of being safe, secure, self sufficient, and confident with a sense of belonging! With courage, determination, and a strong sense of sisterhood, these women are creating a space where being safe, secure, self-sufficient, and confident is just par for the course. Hats off to you all!

By training with LPGA and PGA Professionals—certified experts who’ve poured their hearts, time, and resources into mastering the art of instruction—these women are receiving more than just swing tips. They’re gaining lifelong tools, confidence, and a deep love for a game that can be played from 2 to 102. Because as we all know, golf is more than a game—it’s a lifestyle, a network, and a journey of personal growth.

Back in 2012, four dynamic women—Pam Swenson, Debbie Waitkus, Jill Strite, and Jan Bell—had a vision. Together, they launched the grassroots movement known as the National Women’s Golf Alliance (NWGA) to improve the golf experience for women at courses that hadn’t always rolled out the welcome mat.

Their research was eye-opening. They found that:

  • Women made up a major market for golf.
  • Over 38 million women were interested in playing.
  • Women controlled 80% of household spending and influenced up to 94% of purchases.

Armed with these powerful statistics, Jan and her dream team made a bold case to golf facilities across the country—demonstrating that welcoming women golfers builds customer loyalty, boosts satisfaction, increases rounds played, and grows the business. Women golfers were—and still are—more likely to take lessons, bring others along, and help shape a vibrant future for the sport.

So here’s to you—trailblazers, leaders, and future champions—for saying “yes” to the game and to yourselves. Thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey. Let’s celebrate your next big swing—see you on the fairway!
