The Professional Women’s International–Barbados (PWI-Barbados) 2026 Summit will conclude with a powerful day dedicated to youth empowerment, leadership development, and the transformative impact of sport on Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Barbados.
The summit’s final event, Transformative Impact & Leadership Day, will feature the Urban Gurl/Suburban Swurl Gurls Golf Clinic, bringing together young participants from Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago for a unique experience centered on golf, education, mentorship, and personal growth.
Grounded in the Women of Color Promoting Sports Collaboration Network (WOCPSCN) Principle of Practice, “Pillar Three: Education,” the program uses golf as a platform to help young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, and explore future opportunities. The initiative is sponsored by the African American Golfer’s Digest, the Women’s Sports Foundation, Barbados Golf Course, and the FordeGolf High Performance Center.
Throughout the week, participants will receive immersive golf instruction, mentorship, and life-skills training designed to expand access to the game while encouraging academic achievement and character development. Organizers say the program reflects the growing recognition of sports as a vehicle for education, equity, and cross-cultural connection.
A highlight of the day will be a morning discussion examining the role of sports in shaping youth development, character building, and global opportunity. The session will be facilitated by members of the WOCPSCN International Sports Opportunities Committee, including Geoff Thompson, Ronni Savage, and Lyndon Taylor, along with special guests.
The event will also feature the Lavender Luncheon Honoree program, with guest speaker Debert Cook, publisher of African American Golfer’s Digest. Cook will address attendees while helping recognize academics and educators whose contributions have positively impacted young people and their communities.
Organizers describe the summit’s theme as “Elevate. Empower. Impact.” The Transformative Impact & Leadership Day embodies those goals by demonstrating how sports, education, and mentorship can work together to create lasting opportunities for the next generation.
The Professional Women’s International–Barbados Summit is expected to attract leaders, educators, sports professionals, and community advocates committed to advancing youth development and expanding opportunities for women and girls throughout the Caribbean and beyond.
