The Advocates Professional Golf Association will continue its mission of expanding diversity and opportunity in golf when it hosts the APGA Juneteenth Classic Youth Clinic on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Chester Washington Golf Course in Los Angeles, California.
Scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the youth clinic is designed to introduce young golfers to the game while creating direct interaction with APGA Tour professionals. Participants will have the opportunity to receive instruction, compete for prizes, and experience the game in a fun and welcoming environment.
The clinic is part of the APGA’s broader efforts to make golf more accessible to young people from underserved communities and to inspire the next generation of players. Chester Washington Golf Course, one of Los Angeles’ historic municipal facilities, has long served as an important community golf venue and provides a fitting backdrop for the event.
The APGA Tour has become one of the most important developmental golf organizations in the United States. Originally founded in 2010 as the National Minority Golf Foundation, the organization was created to increase minority participation in professional golf. In 2018, the tour officially became the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour and significantly expanded its programming and visibility.
The APGA’s mission centers on creating opportunities for Black and other diverse professional golfers who have historically faced barriers within the sport. The organization works to provide competitive playing opportunities, mentorship, player development, and pathways into the golf industry.
Over the past several years, the APGA Tour has experienced rapid growth through partnerships with organizations such as the PGA TOUR, Cisco, Mastercard, Farmers Insurance, and various corporate and community supporters. Those partnerships have helped the tour expand its national schedule and increase prize purses while also supporting youth initiatives and player development programs.
The APGA has also gained recognition for helping spotlight talented players who may have otherwise lacked opportunities to compete consistently at a high level. Alumni and participants have earned starts in PGA TOUR events, Korn Ferry Tour events, and other professional tournaments across the country.
In addition to professional competition, youth outreach remains a major focus of the organization. Clinics such as the APGA Juneteenth Classic Youth Clinic are intended to introduce golf to children in a positive and inclusive environment while demonstrating that opportunities exist within the game both on and off the course.
Juneteenth-themed events have become especially meaningful for the APGA because they celebrate African American history, achievement, and progress while emphasizing continued growth and inclusion in sports. By connecting youth with professional golfers and mentors, the organization hopes to inspire confidence, discipline, and long-term interest in golf.
The APGA Tour’s presence in Los Angeles also highlights the continuing importance of public golf courses in providing affordable access to the sport. Chester Washington Golf Course has historically served diverse communities throughout Southern California and remains an important hub for junior golf and community programming.
As the APGA continues to expand nationally, events such as the Juneteenth Classic Youth Clinic represent more than just golf instruction. They serve as opportunities to build community, encourage participation, and open doors for future generations of golfers.
