It was a long Thursday for Harold Varner III at the opening day of the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by Mastercard.  Varner III (seen above) on No. 9 tee box after just coming off a very costly and disappointing triple bogey on the 8th hole.  What a way to begin.  Varner started his round on No. 10, so that made 8 his 17th hole for the day.  Prior to that he had gotten his roller-coaster round back to a respectful +1 for the day, that is before that unfortunate train wreck on No. 8.    Varner ended Round 1 with +7 (79).

The Bay Hill Club and Lodge is a private southwest Orlando suburban golf resort that has been owned by Arnold Palmer since 1974.
