Beverly E. Harrison, JD, Site Director for Greater Newark Girls Golf, is set to receive the prestigious Sandy LaBauve Spirit Award at the Rolex LPGA Awards Reception on January 25th. The award, named after the founder of LPGA*USGA Girls Golf, recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to inspiring young girls through golf.
Harrison, an Arbitrator/Mediator and retired Labor Attorney, has shown relentless commitment to empowering inner-city minority youth through golf and the success of her efforts has been highlighted throughout the years with Greater Newark Girls Golf. The organization aims to increase youth participation by forming partnerships for financial support, access to country clubs, and mentorship programs. Harrison’s outstanding involvement has previously been acknowledged with the Rene Powell Legacy grant in 2023. Through her work, Greater Newark Girls Golf serves as a catalyst for enhancing diversity and inclusivity in the sport, making golf more accessible and welcoming for under-represented girls.
