Opportunities and information will abound this week as the Black Golf Directory (BGD) hosts its Virtual Career Fair, September 27- October 8. The online event is free and open to those who register online.

Participants will gain insight and information on internships and employment that is available in the golf industry. Playing golf is not a requirement for participation in the career fair and companies involved represent many facets of the industry such as golf equipment, accessories, junior golf, tournament operations, golf course/turf maintenance, journalism, tv production and more. Confirmed participating companies include Acushnet (Titleist, FootJoy, and more), American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), Callaway Golf, Discovery (Golf Digest, Golf TV), First Tee, Golf Course Superintendents’ Association of America (GCSAA).

Participants will be able to watch Black Golf Directory 1-hour interviews live on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Youtube and ask questions. Registrants will also receive the benefit of full recorded interview via email and receive reminders for each interview along with reminders for upcoming application deadlines.

“The purpose of the virtual career fair is to give out as much information as possible to people of color about what the golf industry has to offer in terms of internships and careers,” says BGD Founder Jamie Taylor, whose target audience this year for the career fair is as young as age 14. Because of Covid-19 there is a robust job market.

“Everybody’s looking to hire right now, and there are certain companies that have opportunities for teenagers.” The career fair opportunities expands all the way up to senior level positions, as well. “Even if you are younger than 14, it’s good to expose kids to the opportunities that are available,” said Taylor who shared that this time of the year is actually the best time to apply for internships, because by the Spring the internships are filled for the Spring and Summer.

The career fair is the second in a series hosted by the Black Golf Directory. Jamie Taylor, founder of the BGD, is an LPGA Professions who has played golf almost her entire life. Growing up in Ohio, in a loving household where golf was a regular past-time pleasure, Taylor along with her father, mother, and brother all took lessons together at a local driving range. They even make it a point to play rounds during family outings and vacations.
