The Black Golf Directory will be hosting a Virtual Career Fair beginning September 28 with major golf organizations involved, including the PGA of America, Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), United States Golf Association (USGA), American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), and Youth On Course.

The career fair is the first in a series hosted by the Black Golf Directory and participating organizations will be sharing information on available internships and inside tips on how to be a successful internship applicant.

Golf Career Fair Brings Opportunity

Jamie Taylor, founder of the BGD, is an LPGA Professions who has played golf almost her entire life. Growing up in Ohio, in a loving household where golf was a regular past-time pleasure, Taylor along with her father, mother, and brother all took lessons together at a local driving range. They even make it a point to play rounds during family outings and vacations.

Taylor has also worked in the golf industry her entire career and currently is Programs Manager for the LPGA Foundation. Yet, admits that she has never experienced an internship.

During her work with the LPGA in 2015, Taylor learned of many great, paid internships that the major golf companies offered every spring, summer and sometimes fall. Taylor also saw that among the pool of applicants there were not many minorities, thus, she has organized the first-ever, virtual career fair series. The 5-week virtual webinar that starts on Sept. 8 and runs through October 30.

Taylor stresses that the internship is geared not just toward just golfers, but also offers various corporate departmental opportunities such as legal, marketing, human resources, event management, fundraising, and more.

“We need to have this webinar so that people can learn of the opportunities in the golf industry, find out when the application dates are, what companies are looking for, how to be a viable candidate, and so forth,” says Taylor in the online informational video. “so that these companies can have a viable talent pool to choose from.”

How To Participate

These internships are open to anyone, age 13 and older, and registration is available at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfBWdv-10BD75NNq2i8w7hXJIiu9ZgQp1cpmZbkVbDHNjk9gQ/viewform

“I just really want to get as many young people to apply for these internship opportunites….because, it’s a life-changing experience, honestly. You get to travel, see things you’ve never seen before, and if you’re not a golfer you may even get a chance to learn a little bit about golf.” Again, applicants do not need to be a golfer to apply.
