It’s all smiles for former President Donald Trump who today wrote, “All of those golfers that remain ‘loyal’ to the very disloyal PGA, in all of its different forms, will pay a big price when the inevitable MERGER with LIV comes, and you get nothing but a big ‘thank you’ from PGA officials who are making Millions of Dollars a year. If you don’t take the money now, you will get nothing after the merger takes place, and only say how smart the original signees were.”
Since casting aside his golf club in Miami, about three years ago, Trump has been angry at the PGA Tour. However, amidst all of the toxicity surrounding Trump, who can blame the PGA Tour for wanting to disassociate itself from the brand. The PGA Tour realized that if they would have kept the tournament at Trump’s Doral golf resort, where it has been played for nearly sixty years, it would have been hurtful for the PGA Tour, perhaps costing them lots of loss from its commercial sponsors, and maybe even several network television stations.
Doral was one of my favorite venues back in the day—before it was aquired by Trump— and when Black Enterprise magazine would hold its very popular annual Black Enterprise Golf & Tennis Challenge. Although, Mother Nature would many times interrupt the hurricane season event it attracted hundreds to the Doral. Black Enterprise closed the curtain on the event in 2016.
Moving on, Trump is in the happily in the mix for the next LIV Golf event which will be held at the Trump National Golf Club at Bedminster, New Jersey. This eighth LIV Golf event will be the last one of the year and will be staged at Trump National Doral Miami in Miami, Florida.
