Wednesday night, retired professional golfer Jack Nicklaus used his Twitter account to share his statement of support for President Donald Trump. The “Golden Bear” urged the public to exercise their right to vote and explained exactly why he cast his ballot for Trump.
In Nicklaus’ opinion, Trump has “delivered on his promises.” Nicklaus believes that Trump has been “more diverse than any President I have seen and has tried to help people from all walks of life – equally.” The legendary Nicklaus also believes that the policies Trump will bring will help many families across the nation to achieve the American Dream.

Founder of the Memorial Tournament in the Buckeye State (Ohio), Nicklaus, now age 80, is a 73-time winner on the PGA Tour. As golf’s all-time leader with 18 major wins and his involvement in golf course design is renowned. Nicklaus was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest civilian honor, by President George W. Bush in 2005.
In early March as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning to surge, Nicklaus and his wife Barbara had tested positive for the virus. The announcement of having contracted the illness was made during Sunday’s final round of the Memorial Tournament.
In his tweet on Wednesday Nicklaus wrote: “You might not like the way our President says or tweets some things – and trust me, I have told him that! – but I have learned to look past that and focus on what he’s tried to accomplish.” Trump is an avid golfer who has played with many celebrities and PGA Pros, including multiple rounds with Nicklaus. Tiger Woods has also played with Nicklaus and Trump during one round in 2019. A photo of Woods and Trump together at that time sparked much conversation on Black social media; will Woods be next to make a statement of support for Trump?

The tweet from Nicklaus strongly endorsed voting for Trump and the posted statement said, “This is not a personality contest; it’s about patriotism, policies and the people they impact. His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear. How he has said it has not been important to me. What has been important are his actions.”
Nicklaus said, “If we want to continue to have the opportunity to pursue the American Dream, and not evolve into a socialist America and have the government run your life, then I strongly recommend you consider Donald J. Trump for another 4 years.”
Following Nicklaus’ posted statement, President Trump thanked him for his support, tweeting: “Jack, this is a Great Honor. Thank you!” Trump pinned the tweet atop his page.
