Finding one’s niche in an $84 billion golf industry may seem like a daunting task. But Doane alum James Beatty ’70 is pursuing ways to help people navigate the course. From February 20-23, 2021, he will be leading organizations like Golf Digest, the United States Golf Association, the American Junior Golf Association, ClubCorp, the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Georgia State Golf Association, the Roger Cleveland Golf Company and the National Golf Course Owners Association to host the first-ever African American Golf EXPO and Forum.
The mission of the event is to promote the game, the business, the industry, the careers and the opportunities in golf to African Americans and to grow the game. The event will be held in Atlanta, Georgia and will feature 20 workshops covering topics from selecting the right golf club to owning a golf course.
Growing the game of golf for Jim, who not only serves as the Executive Editor of the African American Golfer’s Digest but is also President of NCS International, is truly a reflection of the work he has done his entire life.
