by AAGD NEWSWIRE
April 13, 1951 – June 2, 2026

Robert “Peabo” Bryson, the two-time Grammy Award–winning singer and songwriter whose tender baritone became the voice of a generation’s love songs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by his family in Marietta, Georgia, following complications from a stroke.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, on April 13, 1951, Peabo discovered music as a young boy and began singing professionally at the age of 14. Over a celebrated 50-year career, he became one of the most beloved male vocalists in soul and R&B — known to the world as “The Voice of Love.”

He earned two Grammy Awards for the timeless Disney duets “Beauty and the Beast,” performed with Céline Dion, and “A Whole New World,” performed with Regina Belle. His catalog of classics includes “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love” (with Roberta Flack), “Feel the Fire,” “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again,” and “Can You Stop the Rain.”

His voice has been the soundtrack to countless first dances, weddings, and quiet moments shared between people in love. Peabo is survived by his beloved wife, Tanya Boniface Bryson; his son, Robert “Kittrick” Peabo Bryson; his daughter, Linda Bryson; and three cherished grandchildren.

The family asks for privacy as they mourn; and are deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support from around the world. Bryson will be remembered at a private celebration of life service.
