She’s done it again. Sadena Parks is the champion of the New England Charity Classic with a 5 under 67. Parks pulled through the tournament by making her final putt in regulation, on 18 to get to 8 under, forcing a playoff and then on the second playoff, becoming victorious over Jackie Stoelting.
When Parks was asked about the win, she said, “Very exciting; very exciting. I knew that I had one more win underneath my belt, just didn’t know when it happened to be this week. It was awesome. Playing against Jackie was really hard, but we both put in a good fight. She’s a great player and I can’t wait to see her on the LPGA next year with me.”
Regarding the first 18 holes of the day for Parks: the first nine I was a bit passive. Wasn’t playing aggressively. The second nine, I knew that I needed to dart more things to the pin, just go for things if I wanted to win this thing, I need to make more birdies.
At the 18th, Parks says, “The drive was right into the bunked and I didn’t necessarily have a shot at the green, but I knew that if I could hit a little punch, for a fade-out, I could leave myself a little short and a nice chip up. My third putt was a little short, had about 8-feet for a birdie and I drained it. It was clutch. I think I threw up a strong fist pump in there somewhere.
On the green, Parks sat about 10-feet out from the pin, I lipped out, made the par.
The second win means a lot to her, says the University of Washington graduate. “It shows how much I have improved over the year. It means a lot only to me but to my fans and my supporters and my team.” When asked if she thinks she’s stamped herself an LPGA card at this point, Parks says “I don’t want to say anything but, it’s looking pretty good right now.”
The passionate player has been trying to achieve the dream since she was a young 9-year-old girl. “This is my goal. It’s been a long journey; I’m almost there,” said Parks.
