Police in Western Australia arrested a suspected drug smuggler at Perth Airport on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.  But what is most unusual in this drug arrest is the means in which the drug (cocaine) was smuggled. This smuggler used golf clubs to transport the illegal substance.  By filling up the shafts of the golf club with cocaine he thought that it would not be noticed by officials.  However, the clubs did not pass through without inspection, and the drug was detected.

Millions of dollars of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine and other illegal drugs, have been seized by the WA police.  This cache of cocaine in the shaft of the golf clubs weighted in at nearly 1kg . The 950g of cocaine carries a street value of about $400,000, and it was only detected by a police drug dog and airport scanners after detectives received a tip.

The suspect, according to TheWest.com, the 55-year-old Blacktown man is from New South Wales. Police on that day had noticed him acting strangely while in possession of the clubs.  He was arrested and charged with possession and intent to sell or supply.  There is no word on how this arrest may affect his next tee time–perhaps booked from inside of a prison cell, 10 or more years from now.
