If you were to ask most teenagers what they want to do when they grow up, you would likely hear a wide range of responses. Some might say they plan to go to college. Others may express a desire to make a lot of money. A fair number would admit they are unsure, which is understandable. Imagining life beyond high school can be difficult, especially for someone still discovering who they are and what they’re passionate about.

But for Shyla Brown, there’s no uncertainty.

At just 16 years old, she speaks with confidence about her dreams and her future. Shyla’s goal is not only to play professional golf, but to excel at it on the biggest stages. She doesn’t just want to make it onto the LPGA Tour—she wants to leave a legacy. Her sights are set on winning multiple major championships and becoming one of the most successful players the sport has seen.

“I want to win three or four majors, be one of the winningest players on Tour,” Shyla said. “I want to be a big name that people remember. I don’t just want to be a one-and-done pro or a fade-in-or-out pro on Tour. I want to make it big, whatever that may mean.”

Outside of golf, Shyla enjoys many of the same things as other teens. She loves watching movies, hanging out with friends, online shopping, and spending time with her family. She also shares a close bond with her Beagle named Snoop. Still, it’s clear that golf holds a special place in her life—far more than a casual hobby.

Shyla’s introduction to golf came at an early age, thanks to her father, David. A passionate golf fan, he wanted to share the game with his daughter. When she was around seven years old, he bought her a set of clubs, and Shyla quickly found herself drawn to the game.

From that moment on, golf became her passion. What captivated her wasn’t just the thrill of hitting a great shot, but the complexity and depth the game offers. Shyla appreciates how golf demands constant learning and growth, with no shortcuts to mastering the game.

“I like how meticulous it is,” she explained. “I don’t think anyone can master one skill set in a short period of time. I like how much thought and challenge each particular skill set of golf has.”

That drive and commitment are what set Shyla apart. While many teenagers are still figuring out their direction, she has found clarity through golf. Her ambition, combined with her deep love for the sport, suggests she has the potential to achieve her goals. With the support of her family and a mindset focused on hard work and perseverance, Shyla Brown is a name we may be hearing much more in the years to come.
