Over five years ago, the Black Golf Alliance was created to give Black golfers a space that truly reflected who we are, our culture, our voices, and our shared love for the game. What started as a small idea has grown into a powerful community.
Today, the Black Golf Alliance Forum on Facebook has surpassed 12,000 members, with more than 95% of them being African American golfers representing all ages, genders, and locations across the United States and abroad.
As the current president, I want to acknowledge and thank the other three founders—Desiree Walker, Odis Griffin, and Ro Thompson, for their vision and dedication over the past five years. Their commitment helped shape the Alliance into what it is today.
The Alliance has raised thousands of dollars to support HBCU golf programs at Texas Southern University, Florida A&M University, and Wilberforce University, as well as junior golfers. We have also created a platform that helps launch and support Black-owned golf brands.
Our membership includes LPGA and PGA Professionals, professional golfers and athletes, coaches, politicians, industry leaders, and everyday golfers. The Alliance is a place where members can share knowledge, enjoy the game, and engage in meaningful conversations that keep the community active and connected.
Beyond the online space, the Alliance has brought members together through memorable experiences. These include trips to the Memorial Tournament, a visit to Renee Powell and Clearview Golf Club in East Canton, Ohio, and multiple winter golf getaways to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In addition to visiting Renee Powell and having an event at her course, The Alliance held an event at Martin Downs Country Club in Palm City, Florida with Stanley Campbell.Â
The Black Golf Alliance has also become a space for mentorship, relationship-building, and business development within the Black-owned golf community and has helped launch brands such as Bucka Fogey Sports.
As we continue to grow, the Alliance is preparing to announce something special in 2026 that reflects our ongoing commitment to community, opportunity, and the future of Black golf.
The Black Golf Alliance is more than a forum, it is a community built with purpose, pride, and a shared vision for what Black golf can be. To learn more visit them on Facebook HERE
