A round of thanks was relayed to all who participated at The Pinkney Foundation’s Battle at the Hawk Inaugural Golf Classic presented by Summit Bank and Kinder’s on Monday, March 21 at Blackhawk Country Club Lakeside Course in Danville, CA.
“Special thanks to Theresa Morgan and the Joe Morgan Family, Shirley Nelson (Summit Bank), Joe Rainero (Kinder’s), Blackhawk Country Club, Ira Klein, The Pinkney Foundation Board of Directors, Tournament Committee and Volunteers for making this event possible, said Preston and JaVonnie Pinkney, Co-Founders of The Pinkney Foundation.
The weather was great and the course was In great shape. Participants enjoyed sandwiches donated by Kinder’s, walked away with a new club, made a new friend at the cocktail hour and enjoyed a great dinner hosted by Franco Finn.
“With your support, we raised much-needed funds to expand our youth development programs in 2022 and bring 6 youth to Washington D.C. to participate in the Inaugural Charlie Sifford Cup and visit the African American History Museum in early June,” Preston Pinkney stated.
There was stiff competition on the course. “Congratulations to first-place winners who won via card off with a score of 56: Preston Pinkney, Adrian Davis, Kendall Murphy and Webster Procter. Their names will be etched on the coveted Joe Morgan Championship Cup.
Second place winners who also shot a 56: Dr. Bill Riley, Dr. Ben Pope, Taylor Travis and Stan Nicks. Third place winners who shot a 57: Franco Finn, Aaron Farley, Sacha Laskar, and Mark Vierneza.
“The door isn’t closed just because the tournament is over. We still need funds to cover the expenses to Washington D.C. and the kids are counting on us to send them there,” said Preston Pinkney.
