Tiger Woods beamed with pride as he celebrated his son’s remarkable victory in the 14-15 year-old age division to win the Notah Begay III National Championship. The tournament was held on September 24 at the Mission Inn in Orlando, Florida, with the young Woods posting a final-round 66, his career-best in competition.
In a moment of composed skill, Charlie sank a 15-foot putt to secure victory by a single shot. This triumph also secured his place in the upcoming Notah Begay III National Championship.
While Tiger Woods is currently taking a hiatus from golf to focus on ankle rehabilitation, his absence doesn’t mean he won’t be by his son’s side on the course. Tiger had to withdraw from the Masters earlier this year due to his ongoing recovery process. Nonetheless, his role as Charlie’s caddy demonstrates significant progress, as he can now walk without significant discomfort.
Charlie Woods stellar Round 2 scorecard consisted of 9 birdies! He won by one shot with the pressure starting to mount down the stretch! This solidifies his spot in this year's NB3 Junior National Golf Championship. See you at Coushatta, Charlie! #RoadToCoushatta #Golf pic.twitter.com/CCufAtGvon

For the time being, the younger Woods is the center of attention. After his tournament victory, Charlie shared with Golf Monthly, “It’s great, we just stay in our own little world. We take it one shot at a time. He puts me in my place. Shooting 68 last year and following it up with 66 this year, obviously, this course is great for me. You have to shoot a low round to win this thing, and it’s not handed to you.”
The father-son duo is expected to make an appearance at the 2023 PNC Championship, provided Tiger’s recovery progresses as expected. This marks Charlie’s second win of the year, following his earlier triumph at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour.
Looking ahead, the Notah Begay III National Championship is scheduled for November 4 to 6 at Koasati Pines at Coushatta Casino Resort in Louisiana. Charlie Woods will be gearing up for this upcoming tournament, with hopes that his father, Tiger Woods, will once again be on hand to provide support and guidance.
