One of the best places you can be as a consumer is right in the middle of a price war between rival businesses. As competitors rush to try to develop new technologies or products (while simultaneously lowering prices to make their offerings accessible to as many people as possible and drive their opposition out of the markets) it’s the consumers who reap the rewards, given their pick of the litter at wallet saving prices. That’s what’s happening with golfers across the country right now as Tiger Woods endorsed brand PopStroke tries to unseat the incumbent Top Golf in the minds of driving range enthusiasts.
The latest battleground between driving range titans resides in Arizona, where Tiger’s latest business venture just opened up. It’s hard to compete with a brand ambassador like Woods, who brought golf to heights it’s never seen before during his run of dominance in the late 1990s and 2000s: who’s to say just how big of a brand PopStroke could become?
In fact, PopStroke vs Top Golf in Arizona promos feels as competitive as sportsbook promos in the state, as you can see here at the platform of promo codes offered as the bookies compete for a spot as your go-to betting location.
While PopStroke began as a business headquartered and solely operated in Florida, the brand has built up a full head of steam and is beginning to branch out of the Sunshine State rapidly. The first out of state PopStroke opened in December 2022 when a location in Katy, Texas, a suburb of Houston, opened their doors.
Another location is opening in Glendale, Arizona now, giving fans of Tiger (or just golf lovers in general) from the greater Phoenix area a chance to try their hand at the 15 time major championship winner’s prize creation.
Here’s a look at how PopStroke differs from other competitors like Top Golf and Drive Shack, as well as what’s next for Tiger as the 47 year old continues to recover from his devastating car crash and begin the transition to normal life as his playing career winds to a close.
The biggest difference between PopStroke and other established brands is the focus on putting instead of driving: it’s a more family-oriented affair that even younger kids can get involved in, helping to bring the game we love to the next generation. With a playground and ice cream parlor included, it’s clear that Tiger wants to accommodate younger fans… but that doesn’t mean adults will be left out of the fun on the 18-hole course, given the hand-crafted drinks one can order to the specific hole they’re on.
As for Woods, it’s heartening to see that he’s already getting started on his next act. It’s incredible that he’s still able to compete at his age, especially after his slew of back surgeries (and on the heels of the February 2021 car crash that left him hospitalized for three weeks and easily could’ve claimed his life).
It can be extremely difficult for athletes of any age to move on from the sport they love following the conclusion of their playing career, even if it’s a high school player hanging up their uniform—much less one of the greatest players of all time like Tiger is.
He’s already shown a penchant for sharing the game with younger athletes, going head to head (and stealing the show in typical Tiger fashion) with his then 13 year old son Charlie at the PNC Championship golf tournament in December. For a man who’s seen dizzying peaks and devastating valleys, Tiger’s next act will be a show to watch, and it just might be with PopStroke.
