Mehta Golf Club’s Godfrey Nsubuga has taken an early lead at the Kabete Open on the par 72 Vet Lab course in the ongoing Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series.
The Ugandan, who has been finishing either second or third in the series, fired two under par 70 to take a one-shot lead against series leader, Kiambu’s Michael Karanga and Ruiru’s Bernard Omondi, in the chase for a ticket to the Magical Kenya Open set for Karen in February.

In the opening nine, he was on fire, rolling in -4 when he managed to sink in four birdies in the 2nd, 4th, 7th and 8th with pars in the remaining holes before playing par in the second nine with two birdies in 12th and 18th, pars in 10th, 11th, 13th, 15th and 17th before dropping a shot in 14th and 16th.
The second round tees off on Saturday morning where 36 players will make the cut into the final round where cash prizes await.
