About the Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship
The APGA Tour (Advocates Professional Golf Association) introduces a new event, the Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship, at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, the home of the PGA TOUR’S Butterfield Bermuda Championship. It is the first international event in the history of the APGA Tour.
·The Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship is a 36-hole invitational tournament featuring 17 of the APGA Tour’s top players and four local Bermudians who have recently earned their entry into the field during the Butterfield Bermuda Championship Local Qualifier. Players are competing for $60,000 prize money. The tournament will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11-12 with a surrounding variety of pro-am and tourism-related activities taking place during tournament week. The $60,000 purse is the fourth largest on the APGA Tour.
·The tournament will celebrate and advocate diversity and inclusion in the game of golf, aiming to rightfully provide minority individuals a fair and equal opportunity to compete and win at the highest level of the game. The event is sponsored by the Bermuda Tourism Authority, Butterfield, The Hamilton Princess and Beach Club and Life & Annuity Services (LAS) And is supported by the PGA TOUR.
·It is the 16th event of 2022 for the APGA Tour, which has grown to 18 tournaments this year, offering over $900,000 in prize money. The season concludes with the final two events of the
Farmers Insurance Fall Series in Houston (Oct. 25-26) and Tustin Ranch in Los Angeles (Nov. 8-10).
- The PGA TOUR’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship is scheduled for October 27-30 at Port Royal with live coverage scheduled on Golf Channel.
