National Black Golf & Jazz Pioneers Tournament and Achievement Awards

ANNOUNCING A NEW ORLEANS STAPLE EVENT

NEW ORLEANS, LA —  The African American Golfer’s Digest is delighted to announce their media partnership with the National Black Golf & Jazz Pioneers Tournament and Achievement Awards (NBG&JMAA).  The program will be held on two days: Tuesday, April 5-Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana and honors exceptional leaders in both golf and music, and, has presented four previous successful years in New Orleans.

“I am thrilled to share in the phenomenal opportunity to honor legends of the game of golf and talented artists in music,” said Debert Cook, publisher of the African American Golfer’s Digest.  “Glennon Bazzle, the program’s founder, has done a marvelous job in presenting this outstanding and celebratory event.  I believe that our involvement will help him to gain even more success this year.”

The partnership will expose the Black Golf & Jazz Pioneers Tournament and Achievement Awards to over 175,000 readers and followers of the African American Golfer’s Digest.  Each announcement and notice distributed publicly will provide information on the planned agenda and program highlights for the multiplicity of micro-events that will be shared to devoted fans of the publication.

“This is a very exciting time for anyone who enjoy golf, music and creating a better society through our growing communities of color.  The National Black Golf & Jazz Pioneers Tournament and Achievement Awards is bringing recognition to the strong leadership that is propelling our minority communities forward”, said Glennon Bazzle, Founder, Project Director, NBG&JMAA.

The line-up of events will honor some of the best leaders in golf, music and community service.  “Everyone will want to meet each of these significant honorees, up-close, for a personal opportunity to share and discuss visions for growing and fulfilling missions and objectives that are important to them.”  Bazzle, aka “The King of Swing,” a prominent motivational speaker, golf trainer and health & wellness guru, who has 45-years of experience in the golf industry.

Jim ThorpeChampions Tour Player Jim Thorpe will be a special guest and part of the golf tournament fundraiser that will tee-up on the morning of April 6, at the historic Joseph M. Bartholomew Golf Course, an 18-hole, public course with a yardage of 6,665 at its longest tees, playing to a par of 72.

Originally opened as the Pontchartrain Golf Course in 1956, this course was renovated in 1979 and renamed to honor the first African American inducted in the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame. Bartholomew, born in 1885, was an African American golfer who specialized in designing golf courses.

“We wish to support the legacy of this golf course and all of those who join us will find it challenging,” says Bazzle, who also mentions that participants will become acquainted with some great new friends and connect with some outstanding players from all across the U.S.A. with coverage being provided by the African American Golfer’s Digest, the nation’s leading print publication for avid Black American golfers.

Jim Thorpe_Glennon BazzleJim Thorpe is also scheduled to give a short-game instructional clinic, and a long-game clinic, followed by hitting shots for every group that passes on a par 3 hole.

The effervescent Thorpe is predicted to engage with guests, take photos and four autographed Odyssey putters will be auctioned off.   A pre-event press conference, slated to take place at the Ashé Cultural & Arts Center, is being arranged as a platform to alert the community with interviews between local sports reporters, Jim Thorpe and Glennon Bazzle.  Registration for the golf tournament will open on February, 1, 2016.  Early bird registration closes on March 19.

The festivities also will a Hidden History – Golf & Jazz Tour, hosted by the renowned New Orleans Black History expert Mr. Leon Waters.   Bus departs at 8:30 a.m. from Hotel 504 @ 1300 Canal Street. Boarding begins at 8:00 am. Bus returns at 12:30 pm.  Participants are sure to gain wonderful insight into the rich, deep history of the New Orleans area.  DOWNLOAD THE RESERVATION FORM HERE.


The highlight event includes the National Black Golf & Jazz Pioneers Tournament and Achievement Awards at the Ashé Cultural Arts Center where distinguished honorees representing some of the best in “Golf, Music & Community Service” will be awarded.  The evening awards dinner menu will feature tasty Southern culinary cuisine and local fair.   Honorees will be formally announced on February 15, 2016 on the program’s website: https://africanamericangolfersdigest.wordpress.com.
