JACKSONVILLE, Ala. | Alabama State turned in its best round of the day on Tuesday in the final round of the Chris Banister Golf Classic hosted by the RTJ at Silver Lakes.
The Hornets moved from 10th to seventh with a final round 309. The total had them 14 shots back of Little Rock in sixth, and one shot ahead of Tennessee State (90-over par). Alabama State finished the tournament at 89-over par (953) after heading into the final round at 645.
Mack Bailey moved out of a tied for 22nd, moving into the top 20 in the final round after carding a final round 5-over (77) to finish 17-over (233) for the tournament. She ended the tournament tied with Sophia Mancuso of Elon, and finished just two shots out of the top 15 and four shots out of the top 10.
Alma Garcia fired a final-round 8-over (80) to finish tied for 29th with a three-round total of 21-over (237). Meanwhile, Abigail Pederson finished 35th – moving up 14 spots with a final-round 4-over (76) to have a three-day total of 25-over (241).
Jade Sanders also moved up double digits, finishing tied for 38th after entering the round in 49th with a final-round 4-over (76) to register a three-day total of 26-over (242).
Faith Scott and Shania Jones rounded out play for the Hornets in the tournament, with Scott firing a 6-over (78) in the final round.
