Following his win at the Advocates Pro Golf Tour Billy Horschel Invitational on Saturday, July 31 in Jacksonville, Florida, Willie Mack III was greeted with a surprise gift by Author Johnson, former manager of the late, great golfer Calvin Peete. Johnson, a formidable player years ago himself, has competed against all the pictured greats with the exception of Tiger Woods.
Johnson presented Mack with an oversized poster of golfing legends Charlie Sifford, Jim Thorpe, Lee Elder, Jim Dent, Pete Brown and Tiger Woods. Autographed by all except Pete Brown and Tiger Woods, event host, Billy Horschel, was elated to be in attendance for the gifting along with dozens of other guests.
Mack captured the wind after he birdied three holes in a row following opening par and was even for the rest of the day with one birdie and one bogey to post his second 69 in a row for a two-round total of 6-under 139, topping Michigan State junior Troy Taylor (71) by four shots.
