Hikers to play 100 holes of golf in one day to raise money for affordable access for junior golfers with once-in-a-lifetime golfing opportunity
(PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.) – Youth on Course – the non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the landscape of golf and the lives of young people through opportunities on and off the golf course – has announced the exclusive sites that will serve as host to host this year’s Premier 100 Hole Hikes across the country. The Hikes will take place at 11 courses across the nation from June through November with donations benefiting young golfers’ access to the sport.
Premier Hikers will take on the challenge of playing and walking 100 holes of golf in one day to support Youth on Course through pledge donations for each hole of golf they successfully play. All proceeds of the Hike will be used to fund the organization’s array of programs including: subsidized access to golf, paid high school internships, caddie programs and college scholarships.
Last year, Hikers raised nearly $2 million for Youth on Course which was enough to subsidize nearly 300,000 rounds of golf for YOC members. Over 250 golfers took on the challenge, walking more than 3,300 miles at 27 courses across the country including The Cradle at Pinehurst and The Hay at Pebble Beach.
“Youth on Course’s mission aligns perfectly with our vision for The Hay: to lower golf’s barriers to entry and make the game more welcoming for kids,” says Pebble Beach’s Vice President and Director of Golf John Sawin. “We love nothing more than to see Youth on Course turn our donation of a day at The Hay into nearly two million dollars that will subsidize access to golf rounds for their members, both locally – at participating courses such as Spanish Bay, Del Monte, and The Hay – and nationally.”
The Premier sites are open to those who commit to raising a minimum of $10k per person per Hike, with some sites holding a higher fundraising threshold. The Premier Hike experience includes local accommodations, a round of golf at an exclusive local course and a team dinner with fellow Hikers at the location. The challenge of playing golf all day is a remarkable way to bring golfers nationwide together for a common goal of providing affordable access to golf for young people.
“The Youth on Course Premier 100 Hole Hike offers golfers a once-in-a-lifetime experience all while giving them the opportunity to help provide kids with access to the game we all love,” says Jeff Clark, Chief Development Officer for Youth on Course. “Our Hikers, donors and sponsors help us create life-changing opportunities that deeply impact youth across the country.”
