(L-R) Gary Sobba, Executive Director, Wells Fargo Championship presents a $250,000 gift for the Rok Creek Park Project to Sinclair Eaddy, CEO & President National Links Trust

National Links Trust held its second annual Symposium on Municipal Golf this past week in Washington, DC. Featuring panel discussions surrounding NLT’s five organizational pillars, a networking event with Erik Anders Lang, Q&A with Tom Doak, and keynote address from USGA CEO, Mike Whan, attendees were treated to three days of impactful programming and events. More than 100 individuals representing local and national organizations – including the USGA, First Tee – Greater Washington, DC, GCSAA, and the NGCOA, among others – were in attendance. The organization’s digital newsletter included a thank you to attendees for participating in the event and to the community for their ongoing support.

As part of a partnership with this past spring’s Wells Fargo Championship, National Links Trust was announced as one of the tournament’s charity recipients at an Oct. 26 ceremony at Rock Creek Park Golf. The $250,000 gift was made in support of the upcoming rehabilitation of the course and clubhouse. First Tee—Greater Washington, DC, who will have a home base at the renovated facility, was another recipient of the tournament’s charity efforts.

In addition to leadership from the Wells Fargo Championship, National Links Trust, and First Tee—Greater Washington, DC, the announcement ceremony also included a clinic for junior golfers held by the Howard University Golf program.

“One of our top priorities each year, is to touch the community and play a supportive role in the fabric of the community, “said Wells Fargo Championship Tournament Director Gary Sobba. “Thanks to the tremendous support of our volunteers, our corporate partners and the fans, we are proud to be able to continue that important tradition.”
