I Am A Golfer Foundation announces that Cedar Crest Golf Course in Dallas, TX, will be the location for the Southwest Showcase. The 3-day event will be nationally televised and covered on The Golf Channel. “This provides a platform, especially in today’s environment that Division II players, HBCU players, African American players and players of color have never had an opportunity like this before. This will be a major,” says Cedar Crest’s Director of Golf and General Manager Ira Mayalo
Southwest Airlines has committed to being a sponsor of the Showcase At Cedar Crest for at least two years.
The top 50 African American collegiate players from across the country will be invited to compete in the event at the historic Oak Cliff golf course in located in Southern Dallas, Tx. Situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Dallas, the eyes of the world will have an opportunity to view this tournament.
City leaders see the tournament as something greater than golf. The Showcase will bring positive exposure to players in a sport that did not historically invite them, add attention to a Dallas community, resources and history that are often overlooked. The inaugural event will take place November 13, 2023.
