Milwaukee, WI— February 17, 2023 — The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation has awarded We Black We Golf (WBWG) a $20,000 Sports Matter Grant to support the Golf is Life youth program. WBWG is a social organization that uses the game of golf to build community. Now in its third season, WBWG has introduced the sport to thousands of athletes of all ages and backgrounds.
“This grant will allow us to grow our youth program in a substantial way and incorporate new technology that will completely change how children view the sport,” said Richard Badger, Board Member at WBWG.
The Golf is Life curriculum not only teaches the game of golf, but showcases the parallels between how a golfer makes decisions on the course and in life. The program instills to youth golfers as young as five years old that no matter the outcome, there is always another shot.
DICK’S believes that sports make people better and are one of the best youth development tools to help kids succeed both on and off the course. In 2014, DICK’S and The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation launched the Sports Matter program to help underfunded youth sports programs in communities across the nation.
“We are proud to partner with We Black We Golf as they work to make golf more accessible to youth athletes in our community,” said Kyle Flanagan, Community Marketing Manager at DICK’S Sporting Goods.
Representatives from DICK’S and We Black We Golf will meet at the DICK’S Sporting Goods Southridge Mall location on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30am for a public grant award presentation. About We Black We Golf We Black We Golf is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.
